Whether you're just starting out or well underway with building a habitat garden, there is a wealth of free knowledge available to help you make the most of indigenous plants in your outdoor space. We've gathered some of our favourite resources below.
GARDENS FOR WILDLIFE
Gardens for Wildlife Victoria is a network of community members and council/shire officers across Victoria supporting each other to involve local residents, schools and businesses to join us in caring for the native plants and animals of our communities.

YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL
Many Local Councils produce guides highlighting the plants indigenous to their area. Some also run workshops and offer voucher programs.
BIRDLIFE AUSTRALIA
Birdlife Australia have a fabulous free 'Habitat Gardening for Birds' online course. This course teaches you how you can support native Aussie birds by creating a habitat garden at home.

WOODY MEADOW GUIDELINES
University of Melbourne have produced an guide on how to design, install and maintain a Woody Meadow. While aimed at designers and land managers, it contains excellent information of use to the more advanced home gardener.

INDIGENOUS PLANT USE GUIDE
Produced by Barkandji woman Zena Cumpston this guide explores the cultural, nutritional, technological and medicinal use of indigenous plants. You’ll find information on more than 50 indigenous plant species displayed on labels that you can print and use in your own garden. While this guide details use of many species that VINC grows, please note that it also includes many species we don't grow.
